Scripture: Luke 5:1–3
“One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Galilee, the people were crowding around Him and listening to the Word of God. He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to pull out a little from the shore. Then He sat down and taught the people from the boat.”
In our last programs from Luke 4, we saw Jesus preaching in the synagogue of Nazareth and throughout Galilee. Now, in Luke 5:1, He is preaching God’s Word to a large crowd by Lake Galilee. He asked Simon to pull out his boat so the multitude could hear Him.
John 1:14 reminds us, “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” God’s Word took on human form in Jesus. He entered people’s lives so they would know God was not distant, but near—that each person mattered to Him. As a man, Jesus felt joy, loneliness, pain, and sadness. He understands all we go through, and He longs to be involved in our lives. Through Him, God offers hope and grace to all who will surrender, seek forgiveness, and live as His servants here on earth—and then be with Him in eternity.
Can you imagine the joy of the people on the shore as they realized they could have a close relationship with the true God? That truth remains the same today. God is still extending His grace, love, hope, and comfort. Even in difficult times, if you reach out to Him and learn daily from His Word, you will know His peace now and forever.
Dear Seed Partners, please pray for our listeners—many are Muslims, Jewish people, or unbelievers—that they may seek God’s Word with all their hearts.
Luke 5:4–11
“When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, ‘Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.’ Simon answered, ‘Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because You say so, I will let down the nets.’ When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. They signaled their partners to help, and both boats were filled so full they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, ‘Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!’ For he and all his companions were astonished. Then Jesus said to Simon, ‘Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.’ So they pulled their boats to shore, left everything, and followed Him.”
As miraculous as the catch of fish was, the greater moment was Jesus’ call: “From now on you will be catching people for God’s Kingdom.” This was a turning point in Peter’s life. He admitted his sin, received forgiveness, and was commissioned to share God’s Word with others—telling them that God is near and that through Jesus they could find forgiveness and new life.
This lesson shows us that every servant of God can help bring lost souls into His Kingdom. Evangelism is carried out in many ways depending on God’s leading—through personal outreach, worship, films, social media, the internet, and radio broadcasts like the Seed of Abraham.
We are praying that God will open many doors for you, our partners—that He will bring people across your path who need the Good News. We thank the Lord for your faithfulness in helping us share His Word with multitudes across the Middle East and beyond through the Seed of Abraham Radio Ministry. You are living out Jesus’ words in Luke 5:10: “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.”
God bless you,
Pat Depew and the Seed Board (Pastor Shane & Elisa Beeson, Mike Milburn, Lori Gardner, and Linda Blakely)
Please continue to pray for our listeners, for the High Adventure staff, and for all that is needed so transmissions will go out clearly to the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and Asia.
Philippians 4:6–7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
