The Seed of Abraham Welcomes Elisa Beeson to the Seed of Abraham Board

From Elisa

Upon her decision to become a member of the Seed of Abraham Board:

“Thank you for asking me to join the Seed of Abraham! I wholeheartedly support and love the mission of the Seed of Abraham. I have a deep love for the Jewish people and culture and pray for lasting peace in Jerusalem and for reconciliation among all who live in Israel. I pray all who hear the broadcasts come to know and believe in Jesus, Yeshua Hamashiach, and to find freedom and peace in the one true God.

I am incredibly blessed to have grown up in a strong Christian family with a long legacy of believers that spans generations. I am also honored to have married into a family (note from Pat: Elisa is the wife to the Seed of Abraham Board member Pastor Shane Beeson) that also takes pride in having a multigenerational legacy of believers. I very much feel the weight and depth of blessing that comes from such a heritage.

It is my honor and privilege to continue that legacy by daily fostering and nurturing my personal relationship with the Lord. I’m so thankful I made the decision to follow Jesus when I was a young girl. Through the highs and lows of life, God has proven Himself faithful. With each passing year, I am increasingly in awe of His boundless and incomprehensible love for us, a love that surpasses all understanding.

Psalm 71:17-19
“Oh God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds. So even to old age and gray hairs, Oh God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come. Your righteousness, Oh God, reaches the high heavens. You who have done great things, Oh God, who is like you?”

Blessings and Shalom,
Elisa Beeson

Praise to God

Thoughts from David on the Seed Broadcasts

From the Book of Luke 7:1-10

This scripture gives us a wonderful understanding of what great faith is and the results that it can produce. What is even more interesting is this powerful faith comes from a man who was not Jewish! He was a Roman centurion, a Roman Army officer who was in command of 100 soldiers.

Jewish people feared and despised most centurions as many of them abused their powers and had tyrannical natures towards the Jewish people.

Luke 7:1-2
“Now when He concluded all His sayings in the hearing of the people, He entered Capernaum. And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die.”

Jesus spent much of His time performing miracles and teaching in Capernaum, a small fishing village near the Sea of Galilee. From verse 2 we learn about the personality of this centurion. He deeply cared about his servant and had compassion on him. The servant was seriously ill, and in the book of Matthew 8:6 we are told that the man suffered from paralysis and great torment. The centurion loved this servant and hated to see him going through so much suffering and anguish.

Luke 7:3
“So when he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to Him, pleading with Him to come and heal his servant.”

The elders of the Jews were some of the spiritual leaders of Israel. They would rarely submit to a Roman Army official. But here, they do exactly what he asks, and they do it quickly. This tells us that the centurion had a good relationship with them.

Luke 7:4-5
“And when they came to Jesus, they begged Him earnestly, saying that the one for whom He should do this was deserving, ‘for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue.’”

Knowing that this was an unusual request, one of the elders quickly explained how good the centurion had been to them. He loved the Jewish people to the extent that he built a synagogue for them where they could study God’s Word and worship Him.

This centurion showed sincerity, generosity, and care for the Jewish people. Out of all that he had done, his only request now was to ask the Jewish people to go to Jesus and “beg Him to heal his servant.”

Previously in Luke 6:35 Jesus had said, “…love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back.” Jesus realized that this gentile centurion was an example of this kind of love, which resulted in the Jewish people respecting and loving him in return. This was a wonderful example of what He had been teaching!

Luke 7:6-7
“Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, ‘Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.’”

Here we learn more about the nature of the centurion. He is thoughtful and humble. He knew that Jesus was Jewish and that it was sometimes difficult for Jewish people to enter a gentile’s home. He did not feel worthy enough to request that Jesus enter his home, but he was very grateful that Jesus had come to heal his servant.

This is where his great faith is revealed. He says in verse 7: “say the word, and my servant will be healed.” He had full confidence that Jesus had the power to do this!

Luke 7:8
“For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

He acknowledges that he understands authority and obedience, just as Jesus has authority over sickness and healing.

A Lesson in Great Faith

God wants us to be confident when we pray that He hears our prayers and, in His time, answers them. This is the sign of true faith! The centurion was completely confident in the word of Jesus, that Jesus had the power to command the healing of his servant.

When Jesus heard the words spoken by the centurion’s friends, “You don’t have to go. The centurion says to just say the word and his servant will be healed.” He marveled and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, verse 9: “I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel.”

Romans 10:17 says, “…faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”

This kind of faith is unselfish, willing to serve the Lord, and confident that He will guide us in His direction as we pray and believe in Him.

It is amazing to see that a Roman centurion showed what great faith was, so that others—including the Jewish elders and the disciples—would understand!

Encouragement for Today

This is the faith that brings great joy to every person that “there is a God” and “Jesus gives eternal life to those who believe in Him.” The centurion believed these things when almost nobody else did, and so he had great faith.

He believed in the power and authority of Jesus to do exactly what He said He would do. The centurion believed that Christ’s word was sufficient. He believed in the ability of Jesus to heal from a distance. He believed Jesus did not have to be physically present with the dying servant to heal him.

It is not unusual for people to have areas of doubt. However, the more one reads God’s Word and Jesus’ teaching, the more these doubts are removed and the stronger great faith becomes.

Mark 9:24
“Lord, I believe, help my unbelief.”

There are often things that happen in life that are difficult, such as the current virus situation, loss of a loved one, sickness, or job loss. Trust in God, and your faith will see you through and bring you closer to Him.

A Call to Prayer

Pray that many who hear the Seed of Abraham broadcasts will have all doubts removed and will have the faith to believe in the living Lord and His grace!

Pray that the donations will grow to support the Seed Radio Broadcasts.
